What do the "green ticks" mean when buying an Aircon?"The National Environment Agency (NEA) requires registered suppliers of regulated goods to affix the Energy Label on the units that are supplied in Singapore. As such, the Energy Labels are also displayed in all forms of advertisements and promotional materials of the registered products. As of 1 September 2014, the design of the energy labels were revised to include information to estimate the annual energy cost of the registered products. A higher level tick level represents higher tick efficiency with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. How is this important to you? In reality, the number of ticks (1-5) are constantly adjusted based on technological advancements. As such, 5 green ticks units will eventually succumb to being a 4 or even 3 green ticks in a year or two. While buying an energy conserving set is important, it is also worthwhile to note the price differences between the sets, resulting in a costs vs benefits analysis. Owning an entire aircon set is a long term purchase where factors from budget, placement, replacement conditions to intricate details such as tangible savings from real world testings. What is "Ceiling Sweating" (Condensation)?"In foreign countries, the phenomena of "sweating" usually occurs in summer, and unfortunately in Singapore, we are perpetually in the summer season of 30+ °C. What is sweating? Sweating is the process of condensation due to humidity rising outdoors, where water droplets will start to form on the air ducts. While condensation isn't a huge problem, persistent condensation can lead to water damage, with excessive condensation causing molds forming in areas surrounding the duct itself. As such, individuals suffering from asthma and allergies may experience symptoms should the molds establish themselves in the in the area. What causes excessive sweating? 1) Poor insulation (choice of materials when installing A/C units) 2) Dirty air filters 3) Blocked Ducts 4) Location of A/C units 5) Excessive Usage Any symptoms which indicates that I might have this problem? 1) Noisy A/C 2) Reduced Airflow from normal usage 3) Bad smell from air vents 4) HUGE ELECTRICAL BILLS! - This could mean that the A/C unit is struggling and is inefficient in keeping your home cool.

What do I need to know about BTO packages?Just successfully gotten a favourable Ballot from HDB? Before we congratulate you, we must warn you about the costs of renovation and essentially also the costs A/C uninstallation costs! Our 2 decades of experience tells us that there no standard "costs" to the installation of A/C and every installation can be very different down to the very granular level of details such as: 1) Installation location 2) Complexity of wall structures 3) Number of A/C units required 4) Amount of wiring works required 5) Any design conforming factors Here at Decom, we fully understand the financial woes of new families and the consistency of after-sales service.
